While it took a year to get him where he needed to be, this post features a VERY happy patient that received VERY conservative treatment.
A great before and after case study that highlights a creative way to use veneers and bonding to close gaps between teeth.
Another before and after case study here. See the chipped and worn teeth? These were all fixed without any anesthetic!
We fixed a chip on the edge and the gap in between. This patient was thrilled with the outcome! And almost no numbing was required!
This lovely patient was very unhappy with her bonding on the front teeth and the discolored lower teeth. See before & after photos.
This patient discusses some veneers at another dentist, and the problems they gave him. This is why your dentist should work WITH you on veneers.
This patient didn’t like his old veneers from another dentist. They were the wrong shape and size, and someone tried to correct his crowding by making the teeth overly bulbous to appear straight.
We were able to correct the veneers and give him a natural contour and color. He said he forgot what it was like to have teeth that “feel real”.
This patient looked me up and found me because I was her dentist 10 years ago. Since then, she had gotten veneers at another dentist. When she came to see me in Encinitas a few weeks ago, she has a few requests: She let me know that she never liked the color on those veneers. …
In this video, I’m doing a little custom staining of teeth, so I can characterize the teeth to match perfectly and blend in with the rest.
This patient hated the crowns she had for over 15 years. As you can see in the before photo, the crowns were over-contoured. Her gums were constantly infected, painful, and quite often bled.
This patient had undersized lateral incisors. Moonlight Beach Dental replaced them with 2 normal-sized veneers in 2.5 hours and with minimal anesthetic.
This patient drove 5 hours for a consult here at Moonlight Beach Dental. She had a tooth removed 6 months ago, and she wanted the tooth replaced in a conservative and natural way. It turns out that the doctor who took her tooth out damaged the bone, so she could not be a candidate for an implant.
After a bad tooth repair at another dentist, this patient decided to only let me restore her teeth for her upcoming wedding. So she flew in for 2 days!
At 75 years of age, this patient decided she was ready for a change. In a pre-veneer appointment, we performed a smile design mock up. This involves a wax up and photos to design a smile that can be transferred to the mouth, without even having to commit to touching the teeth.
This patient had broken his front teeth due to his bite.
We started Invisalign in order to be able to eventually do veneers. Mid-treatment, I did some bonding without any numbing in order to rebuild the teeth, so that I can finalize the esthetics and the bite before doing veneers.
We did such a good job – I am not even sure he will do the veneers!
Before, this patient had 2 teeth that were not sized well compared to the others.
With minimal, no prep veneers, we changed his smile in less than 3 hours.
This was a simple case. And simple can mean a big difference aesthetically.
We replaced these older fillings using a lighter shade, so that we could make her a new retainer.
It made a HUGE difference in her smile… in just 1 hour!
Rocking my aligners!
They are so clear and transparent that you can’t even tell I have them in!
If you’re experiencing extreme wear of your teeth, know that it’s not normal. Here’s a review of some cases of extreme wear, and what was done to help the patient.
This patient is 60 years old and he’s got Invisalign to correct an underbite that is causing excessive wear to his front teeth.
As you can see in the before photos, his upper teeth are short due to their position and wear from the lower teeth.
Using Invisalign, we are correcting the “end to end” bite, and pulling the front teeth into the proper position.
He’s only 6 months into treatment, but already halfway through.
Lately we’ve been working with a AACD certified dental lab. It’s actually very difficult to find one of these expert technicians that can do a lot of our beautiful porcelain work.
In a previous video, we talked about one-day smiles, where if someone wants a start-to-finish smile design done in one day, but we also use another lab for complex bite and esthetic cases, or cases where we need to do tissue alteration to get the ideal result. For this, we work with a lab here in San Diego that has been doing dentistry here in San Diego for 15 years, but for the past 10 years, he’s been certified by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, which is one of the most prestigious certifications you can get.
10 years ago, this patient had cosmetic work performed by another dentist to replace a congenitally missing tooth.
The problem was that the length, esthetics, spacing and proportions were all wrong.
In just 2 visits, we increased the length, changed the spacing, and improved them with a whiter shade!
Sometimes people can grind their teeth so much that they get what is called a collapsed occlusion.
This beautiful lady wore her teeth down so much that we could see her nerves through the surface of her teeth!
When you think of cosmetic dentistry, you probably imagine something like a dramatic smile makeover.
But it’s not always that way. A change can be very subtle.
This patient had a need for a few fillings to be redone on her front teeth. But why not close the black space in between while we were at it?
This is a pediatric patient that was missing a tooth due to trauma, and she needed 2 crowns.
In addition to the crowns, we used veneers to enhance the length of the teeth and close spaces.
I am grateful for many things. Today, I was thinking about how gratifying it is that we have patients whom fly in – just to get their teeth worked on at Moonlight Beach Dental!
It’s extremely rewarding on so many levels.
Here’s one such patient. I’ll let the pictures do most of the explaining:
Since we live so close to the Mexico border, every once in a while you hear a story about someone that goes to Tijuana in order to “save money” on “cheap” dental work.
If this is something you’ve considered, I implore you to read this post. If you don’t want to read, please understand this:
If you go to a “cheap” dentist, anywhere, you will always get “cheap” dental work that will end up costing you more money in the long run.
This patient was missing her laterals and her previous dentist veneered he canines to mask the missing teeth.
Needless to say, after 15 years with these veneers, she came to me for a second opinion.
See the before and afters!
This is one happy patient!
After not coming to the dentist for years, he finally has his new restored smile.
His bite was very difficult. So we decided to use Zirconia – which is the strongest dental material, and can not break.
