Our last post was about the difficulty of matching a single front tooth, especially one with a mosaic of colors.
This patient had a crown placed by her old dentist many years ago. As you can see, the shade and shape do not match, and you can see the unsightly metal collar from the metal of the crown.
In one visit, we were able to layer colors to find a good match. It was extremely difficult, but by choosing a good base shade porcelain and customizing it in person, we were able to get as close as possible. The patient was very impressed.
Before. You can see the unsightly metal collar from the metal of the crown.
Before. The shade and shape do not match.
After. Colors were layered to provide a good match with the rest of her teeth.
After. You can barely tell it’s a crown.
